Traditionally Constructed Axes, Hatchets and Adzes

Hand-forged tomahawks, trade axes, belt axes, woodworking axes and adzes.  These look great hanging on the wall but are made to be used.   They are made either the traditional way from mild steel with a high-carbon steel cutting edge forge-welded in or in the case of the adzes and carving axes from a single piece of O1 tool steel.  When we can get it, real wrought iron can be used for special axes.  Handles are generally hickory or ash, depending on what is available as good handle wood at the time.

Your axe or adze will be made to order.  Presently, due to popular demand, we are very busy in the shop.  Please allow up to 3 months for completion of your new axe.  You may also place your order with a 1/3 deposit to secure your place in the queue.

Carving Axe

This is my most popular axe.  A favorite for green woodworkers and spoon carvers.  Weight is about 1 1/2 pounds, double bevel.  I you prefer a single bevel or asymmetric grind, just let me know.

With hand made handle $215

Without handle $175
